I would like to thank all who attended the mission today and Sparky Cox, North Texas Ride Captain, Mike "Kokomo" Grove Senior North Texas Ride Captain , James Ellis of the US Motorcade Service and all of the people who stood solemnly at the sides of the road during the procession to the Cemetery for his help in making this a successful mission. My loss was great, but when I saw the guard presented so gallantly and proudly, I could only think how proud Steve would have been to have you honor him. He wanted to be a part of the guard riders, but unfortunately his time was not to be. Yet, you did help us as a family give him a honorable send off that he never got as a Vietnam Vet. We will never forget the pride we felt and saw as you raised your flags to honor him and his life of service. His brothers were in awe of the sight and respect you honored us with. As his wife and partner, I know how much this meant to him and how much he respected all vets and his country. He died doing what he loved best, riding his Harley on the way home from work or anywhere. I don't have the words to tell you how much I appreciate your riders. Please send me an address where I can send a donation to honor all of you and help you continue this wonderful service for others. Sincerely, Elizabeth Carter Steve & Liz Carter **************It's only a deal if it's where you want to go. Find your travel deal here. Message-ID: To the members of the North Texas Patriot Guard Rider's On behalf of the family of Donald Gene Hill, I would like to say "Thank You" to the Patriot Guard Rider's. Everything you did at his service was greatly appreciated by his wife Mrs. Pat Hill and the rest of the family. They all spoke very highly of your "honor guard" and how they presented themselves to the family as they arrived for the service. Pat didn't know what to expect when I first talked to her about contacting you. After seeing the flags at the funeral home when they arrived and seeing the flag line at the grave site she was extremely pleased with what you did. The honor bestowed to her husband by your simple actions is something that will live in her mind for the rest of her life. Your mission to show respect and dignity to those who have served their country's call is something I take very seriously. I know from my talks with Donald Gene over the years that he would say "Thank You" for what you did. It is my extreme privilege to be associated with a group such as the Patriot Guard Rider's. To take your own time to do the things you do to honor Veteran's in today's world where so much is forgotten is extremely rare. May you continue your "outstanding effort" and may it always be appreciated by the families and friends as much as your mission was appreciated by Mrs. Hill and her family. It is with a sense of pride in your efforts that I send this to you on behalf of Mrs. Pat Hill and her Family, Gratefully, Donald "Mitch" Mitchell U.S. Army Veteran VietNam Veteran Patriot Guard Rider **************Psssst...Have you heard the news? In this case, the parents of Sgt Wesley R. Durbin. Well done. Bill Steve, There are really no words that express the gratitude we have for the services you provided for our beloved son, Wesley. We were overwhelmed with the respect you showed our son from the moment of his arrival at the airport until he was laid to rest at DFW National Cemetery. The motorcaid from the Faith Lutheran Church to DFW National Cemetery was incredible. The events of our son's death have made things very difficult for our family. Being able to complete all of Wesley's services without the media present was so important to our family as we wanted to give Wesley the honor and dignity he deserved. Thanks to the Patriot Guard this was accomplished. We wish all of you God's Richest Blessings. May the Lord Bless you and keep you and give you Peace. The family of Sgt. Wesley R Durbin Steve, A personal thank you to you for organizing everything involved with Wesley's arrangements. If there is anything we can every do you you or your group, we would love to help in anyway possible. For those who did not know Ray Adams, here is a picture and short bio and information. The Ellis county Veteran's Appreciation Celebration is a great event if you can make it. Bill ____________________________________ FYI - the PGR National Plaque will be presented to Ray?s wife, Peggy, by all Patriot Guard Riders present at the Ellis County Veteran?s Appreciation Celebration on November 8th here in Waxahachie. I hope you can be part of it! Rick ____________________________________ In memory of ?Uncle? Ray Adams ? October 31, 1936 - July 13, 2008. Ray was from Frost down on our southern border of where North, East and Central Texas regions meet. He was a retired business man, school district maintenance supervisor and great-uncle to SPC Jeffery Shaffer, USA, KIA from Waco, September 13, 2006. After we rode Jeffery?s Mission, Ray became one of us and made many Missions all over Texas. He rode his Kawasaki 750 to the Gathering of the Texas Guard last April and his son Michael made sure it was there at the funeral, with his jacket, helmet and colors, ready for his last ride. Ray pulled me aside at a Mission the end of May and told me he was ?having a little surgery? and would be down for three weeks. I asked him what kind of surgery and he said they were taking out half a lung. I gave him ?the eye? and told him there was only one reason they take parts of lungs out and he looked away and said, ?yeah, it?s cancer. But I?ll be back riding with you in three weeks!? Almost three weeks to the day later I got the call and three of us rode down to Corsicana Hospital and were with the family when they discontinued life support. His family had an idea of what Ray was doing with ?all those bikers? but they were overwhelmed with our presence at the celebration of his life and were very proud of the PGR and what it meant to Ray. Ray was a pretty short in the inseam, but he stood ten-feet tall in the eyes of all of us who loved him. Ray?s riding with Jesus now. We miss his smiling face and positive encouragement on the Flag Line, but will see him again when we all ride free together. **************Looking for simple solutions to your real-life financial challenges?
