There will be a silent auction on November 7, 2008, in his honor to benefit Arlington Life Shelter, a charity that Dustin supported. Details are below. Thanks Steve Lucas Dear Sir or Madam, The Hilton Arlington Hotel is preparing for a very special Silent Auction Event to honor the life, patriotism and dedication of Specialist Dustin Jackson. Dustin, a resident of Arlington, Texas and a graduate of Lamar High School, courageously gave his life on March 12, 2008 while on duty with the United States Army in Iraq, serving our country and defending our freedom. Dustin, an incredibly caring and giving person, had a passionate desire to support and protect his fellow soldiers and said that "gave him the courage to do what I have to do." Prior to his deployment to Iraq, he requested to family and friends that if, for any reason he did not return, donations be made in his name to the Arlington Life Shelter, who Dustin often supported while growing up in Arlington. The Arlington Life Shelter is a valuable non-profit organization in our city that supports the less fortunate by offering shelter, food, clothing, training and most importantly, guidance and strength to help others get their lives back on track. Silent Auction benefiting the Arlington Life Shelter --In memory of Dustin Cody Jackson- Hilton Arlington Hotel 2401 East Lamar Blvd., Arlington, TX 76006 Friday, November 7, 2008 7pm - 11pm Thank you for considering your participation to this most worthy cause. To celebrate his life, to honor his charity of choice and to give back to our community is our way of showing the appreciation and gratitude he so deserves. On behalf of the Hilton Arlington Hotel and the United States Army we are proud to honor this selfless soldier and his family and hope that your organization will participate in supporting this fundraising event and make it most successful in Dustin's memory. Sincerely, Nancy Garner and Committee Members -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Thank you. Steve Lucas Deputy State Captain North Texas PGR George, Debbie Horton has been contacted by Chief Kelsey about a family with a KIA needing some assistance this Christmas. Debbie contacted me since I had done several fund raisers and I in turn contacted Chief Kelsey. The family has requested two items for the 16 yr. old girl and 11 yr. old boy, a used computer and a Cassio Keyboard. I discussed the used computer with the Chief and the possible problems that might arise due to failure and also some of the information and data that would remain on the hard drive even after it was cleaned. I offered and have purchased a new HP computer, HP flat screen moitor and HP printer ($435.00). We plan to make the presentation after the first of December probably the 6th or 13th. I think the PGR needs to be involved for the presentation as a mission, so if you will make news of the upcoming event available to the members I will provide you additional information as soon as it has been set up. If any members would like to make donations they may do so to: Bill Watkins 4209 FM 813 Waxahachie, Tx. 75165 (469) 337-9059 I would like to be able to secure the Keyboard and have some cash to present to the family. So far I have only received $40.00. We can do this and make a family real happy and make our own Christmas happier.
